I know, it is the same old topic that everyone talks about every New Year. Generally, it’s what New Year resolutions everyone has made or should make to kickstart a diet. I am not a big fan of resolutions but rather setting goals. Even though it’s not very exciting, the reality is that festive fat finds the way onto everyone’s waists.
I am sure everyone is asking if I kicked my new lifestyle to the curb? Honestly, having my whole household at home was not kind to my journey. It was absolutely amazing to have a family ‘staycation’. Staying up late watching movies or visiting close relatives, sleeping late with the children, and of course enjoying a hot chocolate with a vegan carrot cake. Although I tried my best to stick to my routine, I did not rise at 5am to exercise, nor denied myself that extra serving of roast potatoes.
That said, I gained a bit of weight and have managed to shake it off again within one week. Asking if I have a magic pill or potion that I used to do that? Not at all! It’s just the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and being able to bounce back after you have missed your mark a bit.
Now that schools are back and my husband is back to work, I can return to my routine as it was before. I now rise again at 5am to sleepwalk to the lounge for my exercise. Counting those calories, making sure that I don’t eat more than I burn. Not forgetting that intermittent fasting is back on track.
It is simple. Don’t give up only because you went off the tracks for a while. Nor should you feel that you need a New Year resolution to get started. Get up, dust the cookie crumbs off your chest and start moving. It may not be easy, but getting out of your comfort zone is not supposed to be comfortable. Take a walk, get some fresh air. After a few walks, you will start walking faster. Before you know it, you will be running. All it takes is that first step.
My journey is far from over, and I predict that I will need another 6 months to a year to reach my final goal. I take it one rep at a time, one burpee at a time, and a bundle of sore muscles at a time.
I urge you to read my story of why I started my vegan lifestyle. How it all started might resonate with you or someone you know. Then follow my journey of how I got to losing 12kg’s (to date) and what formula worked for me. I am always available by email should you want some tips or have a question. If you simply require someone to be on your team, I will be there.
I’m proud of you for your enthusiasm. ….please don’t kill me with excessive training the first day I join you…see you soon…Mom
The pandemic gives me more fat I think haha! though it also taught me so many things and discover new passion in life. Festive fat indeed.
