2020 was not a stellar year. Some might disagree, but most will strongly agree. Thank goodness 2021 is here! I’m confident in saying that everyone is ready to tackle it with both arms, as am I.
Now before I continue, I have to apologize. I have been missing in action for a while, and my absence was noticed. Thank you to those who have emailed and messaged me to see if anything was wrong. The good news is, nothing is wrong. In fact, it is just right.
I had quality family time this festive season. We did fun family activities together, which we generally don’t have much time for otherwise. Visiting different beaches in Dubai, animal farms, and eating delicious foods everywhere we went. We are lucky to have an extended family here in Dubai. The children had a fabulous time with their older cousins.
Personally, I took the time to really reflect on 2020. How it challenged me as a mother, wife, and friend, and how I grew from that. As a friend, I learned that I should be more present with those close to me. I am not talking about physical closeness, but those who make a difference in my life. Support those friends who have supported me on my dark days. A simple message to say hi and that they are thinking of me went a long way. The only way I could and can return that support is to do the same.
As a wife, I learned that I am not just the opposite of my husband. That I am his pillar of strength on his low days. Although, I depend on my husband when it comes to helping me with the kids, house, and money. It was clear that my husband is a big emotional supporter to us all. I can only learn from that and practice the same with others.
My darling children have grown and matured so much in the last year. Although 2020 was really tough on me, it was even more so for my daughter. Having to deal with lockdown, upset routine, homeschooling, then going back to school, just to name a few. Not being able to see her friends and cousins took an enormous emotional toll on her. Adjusting to that for me was hard, and managed with the help of others.
I have made incredible social media friends who had aided in my support during 2020. Supportive on so many levels that I’m sure they are not even aware of it. I can only try to repay them by doing the same in 2021.
Let me leave you with this: “When you are going through hell, keep going” – Winston S. Churchill.
What a beautiful thought and views from 2020.
We all pray that 2021 will be more fruitful to us all.
We must be strong against this evil that is trying to destroy the world.
We must all stand together in prayer .
Good luck to everyone and stay healthy
